Definition - What does Cable Plough mean?

A cable plough is a compact piece of equipment that helps in burying pipes and cables below the earth's surface by creating a trench. The plow can drill through hard soil and plow through roots and vegetation without getting entangled.

The plow attachment is available in different widths and can be mounted on a carrier machine, such as a tractor or excavator.

Trenchlesspedia explains Cable Plough

The plow is able to excavate and position the cable or pipe in the excavated channel in a single step saving a lot of time and cost. The cable plow blade is installed at the level of installation at the starting point in a launch pit.

As the plow is pulled by the carrier machine, the plow blade displaces the soil and clears stones and vegetation within the channel or trench that it creates.

It also smooth's the bottom of the trench as it progresses creating space for the cable or pipe to be laid smoothly at the correct depth.
