Polyether Thermoplastic Polyurethane belongs to a class of polyurethane plastics known for their many desirable properties including their resistance to oil, grease, and abrasion. Polyethers generally refer to polymers whose chain contains primarily ether as the functional group.

Special grades of Polyether TPUs also offer enhanced resistance to weak acids/bases, microbial attack, and moisture/humidity.

Polyether thermoplastic polyurethane is also known as polyether TPU or simply polyether.

Due to their resistance to oil and grease, polyether thermoplastic polyurethane products work well in applications in direct contact with human skin. Additionally, polyether TPUs have a naturally high moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) and can maintain their flexibility in low-temperature environments.

However, what sets polyether TPUs apart from other plastics is its hydrolytic stability. This means that it has the ability to withstand prolonged exposure to wet/humid/moist environments without degradation. This feature, combined with is resistance to bacterial and fungal growth, make it ideal for liners such as cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liners.
